Ryu Okazaki studied philosophy and social sciences at the universities of Osaka, Waseda, Hitotsubashi (in Japan) and Humboldt University in Berlin. He was a research fellow with the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. In 2021 he obtained his doctoral degree from the Department of Philosophy at Humboldt University in Berlin. He is currently engaged in his postdoctoral project on the philosophy of religion in the early Romantic period at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Jena, sponsored by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. His research interests include modern German Philosophy, particularly that of Hegel, Novalis, and Schleiermacher, as well as Judith Butler´s reception of Hegel.
