Peter Gröschler studied Law at the University of Passau and received his PhD and his postdoctoral qualification in Passau with Ulrich Manthe. Since 2001 he has been holding the Chair for Civil Law and Roman Law at the University of Mainz.

Jan Dirk Harke studied Law at the University of Freiburg. Postdoctoral he worked as a lawyer in the Berlin office of an international law firm. In 2003 he qualified as a Professor. Besides, he was Judge at the Higher Regional Court of Nuremberg from 2009 to 2016. Since 2016 he has been holding the Chair of Civil Law, Roman Law and European History of Law at the University of Jena.

Dietmar Schanbacher studied Law at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg i.Br. and got his PhD in 1985 with Porfessor Hermann Lange. In 1992 he qualified as a professor for Civil Law, Roman Law and History of Private Law. Since 1993 he has been holding the Chair for Civil Law and Roman Law at the TU Dresden. His research focuses on Roman Civil Law and the field of loan security.

Lutz-Christian Wolff studied Law at the University of Passau. He received his PhD and postdoctoral qualification with Ulrich Manthe. Since 1999 he has been living in Hongkong where he works as Wei Lun Professor of Law and Dean of Graduate School at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Wolff is admitted as a lawyer (Frankfurt am Main) and as solicitor (England & Wales).
