Grady (1815-1891) war u. a. Herausgeber der juristischen Zeitschrift “The Weekly Reporter” in den Jahren 1862 bis 1866 und widmete sich vor allem dem islamischen und hinduistischen Recht des indischen Subkontinents. So besorgte er eine Neuausgabe von Charles Hamiltons Übertragung der “Al-Hidayah” ins Englische (1791), die im Jahre 1870 als zweite Ausgabe erschien. Die “Al-Hidaya” ist eine einflußreiche Arbeit der islamischen Jurisprudenz aus dem 12. Jahrhundert von Burhan al-Din al-Marghinani.
